Home

By: Mary Lawrence

What do you think of when you hear the word, Home?

Safe, comfortable, acceptance, love, a place where you belong… You know that wonderful feeling you get when you have been away a long time and you finally get home. Kind of like releasing deep breath, Ahh.
Doesn’t it feel good? As the old saying goes, “There’s no place like home.”

Not long ago I was doing  my usual chores around home and thinking. I was missing my family members who have passed away. Wondering what they were doing and what Heaven is like. Thinking what I wouldn’t  give for just a glimpse into Heaven today.

As I was thinking, I asked the Lord, “What is Heaven like?” In just a few seconds or so I started humming an old song, “It sounds like home to me, A place I long to be.”

Then I sang, “It feels like home to me. A place I long to be.”  And I realized the Lord was telling me “It’s like home.” It’s like all the wonderful comforts and feelings of home, and greater than anything we can imagine. But most of all Heaven is where we belong!

Remember the old song “Jesus is calling… softly and tenderly. Jesus is calling, come home…”  He love you and wants you to make Heaven your eternal home.

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”               1 Corinthians 2:9
